Two university students who were charged with murder are now free men after the State discontinued the case against them, citing insufficient evidence.
Nineteen-year-olds Alexander Leweniqila and Manoa Vakavunivalu were discharged after the State filed a nolle prosequi before the High Court in Suva this morning.
The two had been jointly charged with 20-year-old Aisake Lovobalavu over the death of a 30-year-old man whose body was discovered at Nauluvatu Settlement in February this year.
The matter was called before Judge, Justice Daniel Goundar.
Lovobalavu now faces one count of manslaughter. He has entered a not guilty plea.
The matter has been adjourned to the 25th of next month.
