A 19-year-old yaqona farmer and exporter in Savusavu, became one of the latest beneficiaries of the Government’s one-third two third concept, upon receiving a new grog-pounding machine today (01.08 23).
Ravikash Dass, who learned the ropes of the trade from his father Rajesh Dass, began grog cultivation in 2020 and later registered his company “Noka Premium Kava” in August last year where he began exporting.
The provision of another grog pounder would greatly help Dass’ company, which so far has supplied one tonne of kava to the local market as well as exported to Tuvalu and Australia.
“I am really happy because prior to this, I had only one-pounder and at times we would not be able to meet demand on time and this new machine would greatly help with operations,” Dass said.
While handing over the machine, Assistant Minister Tunabuna praised Dass’ vision and commitment to contributing to the agriculture industry and the economy.
Dass operates his business from his home at Buca Settlement in Savusavu.
