The Fiji Deaf Women’s 7s rugby team has won a first-ever gold medal at the 2024 Australian Deaf Games in New Castle.
Fiji won both games against the New South Wales Barbarians to clinch the gold medal.
They finished with the highest score of nine, while NSW Barbarians had four.
Fiji’s Ethen Shute was named the best player of the Australian Deaf Games in the Rugby 7s competition.
This is also the first-ever gold medal for the Fiji Deaf Women’s Rugby 7s team in the international competition.
