The Electoral Commission of Fiji has addressed recent media coverage suggesting interference in the appointment of the Supervisor of Elections.
They clarified that their involvement, mandated by the Constitution, is oversight and not meddling.
They expressed frustration at misinterpretation and misinformation, emphasising their role in electoral processes and the need for consultation in the appointment process.
The Commission also denounced the spread of false information and ensuing harassment, urging the public to seek clarification from them directly.
They reaffirmed their commitment to serving with integrity.
