Swire Shipping Fijian Drua centre Iosefo Masi and middle rower Vilive Miramira have been named in the matchday squad to face the Brumbies in Canberra on Friday night. As the Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific heads into Round 5, Masi and Miramira return from injury as the Drua look for their first ever win in the Australian capital on Friday night.
Head Coach Glen Jackson has rotated the squad from last week, reshuffling the backrow and the midfield and opting for a 6 – 2 split on the bench.
In the starting 15, prop Haereiti Hetet starts at loosehead prop with Mesake Doge is at tighthead and Zuriel Togiatama at hooker.
In the middle row, Mesake Vocevoce partners Isoa Nasilasila. After an impressive outing last week, Meli Derenalagi moves to the blindside flanker position this week with young Motikiai Murray at openside. Elia Canakaivata starts as number 8 loose forward.
In the backline, co-captain Frank Lomani retains his place at halfback, partnering Isaiah Armstrong-Ravula who is at flyhalf. Electric winger Ponipate Loganimasi , last week’s Home Basics Player of the Match, retains his place at left wing with Fan favourite Selestino Ravutaumada on the right wing. Tuidraki Samusamuvodre shifts to inside centre to accommodate Iosefo Masi who returns to the outside centre position. Karawalevu retains his place in starting line-up at fullback.
For the bench impact this week, co-captain Tevita Ikanivere covers for hooker, Emosi Tuqiri at loosehead and Samu Tawake covering the tighthead prop position. The versatile Vilive Miramira will cover for the locks, while Glen Jackson has named Etonia Waqa and Isoa Tuwai as loose forward cover against a powerful Brumbies forward pack. Simi Kuruvoli and Isikeli Rabitu will cover the backline this Friday.
