Fiji is participating in the Global Environment Facility (GEF) Pacific Constituency Meeting held in Rarotonga this week, joining representatives from 13 other Pacific Island countries.
The meeting brings together national focal points and regional stakeholders to improve coordination and oversight of GEF-funded environmental projects across the Pacific. Discussions throughout the week focus on strengthening project design, implementation, and monitoring mechanisms, with an emphasis on achieving long-term sustainability.
Fiji’s delegation is led by the Minister for Environment and Climate Change, Mosese Bulitavu, who highlighted the importance of building stronger national systems to improve project tracking and ensure greater accountability in the use of international climate and environment-related funding.
The forum also provides an opportunity for Pacific nations to share experiences and address common challenges in delivering effective environmental outcomes in the region.
