Thirty-one families have received the keys to their new homes at the Housing Authority’s Nepani Sub-Division.

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka handed over the keys, describing the occasion as a significant milestone in the Coalition Government’s commitment to expanding access to safe, secure and affordable housing.

The Prime Minister said home ownership provides families with security, dignity and stability, while also contributing to Fiji’s long-term social and economic development.

He reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to increasing affordable housing opportunities for low- and middle-income earners through the revised First Home Ownership Initiative.

Of the 31 beneficiary families, 28 qualified under Category 1 assistance, while three qualified under Category 2.

The Government has completed 101 model homes at Nepani, with further housing developments underway in Davuilevu, Tavakubu, Tacirua, Veikoba and Waila.

Rabuka also stressed the importance of climate-resilient and well-planned communities with access to essential infrastructure and services, saying these developments help strengthen families, create employment and stimulate economic growth.

New homeowner Shaleindra Narayan expressed gratitude to the Government for helping make home ownership a reality for his family.

The Housing Authority plans to construct around 700 additional homes over the next 12 months and develop approximately 5,800 residential lots by 2031.
