Jason Auto & More has called for a full investigation after four imported vehicles from its latest shipment were found damaged during the clearance process at Suva Wharf.

The company said the vehicles appeared to have sustained deliberate scratches and vandalism before being transported to its dealership.

In a statement, Managing Director Jason Chandra said the damage was discovered upon collection and had been formally reported to the Fiji Police Force for a criminal investigation.

Chandra said each vehicle had been independently inspected by the Japan Export Vehicle Inspection Centre (JEVIC) prior to shipment, with inspection reports and photographs confirming the vehicles were free of any damage before leaving Japan.

The company has also written to Fiji Ports Corporation Limited and Carpenters Shipping seeking their cooperation, including the preservation of CCTV footage, operational records and any other evidence that may assist investigators.

“As a newly established Fijian business, incidents of this nature not only result in financial loss but also undermine confidence in the security of imported cargo,” Chandra said.

He adds that the company was not assigning blame to any organisation or individual, but was seeking a fair, transparent and thorough investigation to establish how the damage occurred and to ensure those responsible are held accountable.

Jason Auto & More said it remains committed to supplying quality vehicles and maintaining the trust of its customers while expressing confidence that the relevant authorities and stakeholders will cooperate fully to determine the facts.

Police have also confirmed to Fiji One News that Chandra lodged a report today that an unknown person allegedly damaged four of his imported vehicles while they were at Suva Wharf.

Police are investigating the matter, and efforts are underway to identify the person responsible.
