Fiji has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Ireland following the presentation of credentials by Fiji’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Jovilisi Suveinakama, as the country’s Non-Resident Ambassador to Ireland.

Ambassador Suveinakama presented his Letters of Credence to Ireland’s President, Catherine Connolly, during a ceremony held this week.

During the presentation, the Ambassador conveyed the warm greetings of President Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, the Government and the people of Fiji.

He reaffirmed Fiji’s commitment to deepening its longstanding partnership with Ireland through greater cooperation on climate action, sustainable development, ocean governance and other shared global priorities.

Ambassador Suveinakama also thanked Ireland for its continued support of the Pacific region and Small Island Developing States.

Following the ceremony, he met with members of the Fijian community in Ireland, acknowledging their role in strengthening people-to-people ties between the two nations.

Fiji and Ireland continue to build on their longstanding relationship, underpinned by shared values, mutual respect and a common commitment to sustainable development and multilateral cooperation.
