Team Fiji’s swimmers delivered a series of encouraging performances at the 2026 Glasgow Commonwealth Games, highlighted by Anahira McCutcheon’s semi-final appearance in the Women’s 50m Freestyle.

McCutcheon was Fiji’s standout performer, qualifying for the semi-finals after placing 10th overall in the heats with a time of 25.45 seconds. She then narrowly missed a spot in the final, finishing sixth in her semi-final in 25.53 seconds.

In the men’s events, David Young came agonizingly close to reaching the semi-finals of the 50m butterfly, finishing 17th overall in 24.28 seconds to become the first reserve. Hansel McCaig and Reuben Taylor also competed in the event, placing 31st and equal 48th respectively.

Don Younger posted a solid effort in the Men’s 200m Breaststroke, finishing 16th overall with a time of 2:39.77.

Fiji also fielded a Mixed 4x100m Medley Relay team, which finished 16th in the heats with a time of 4:17.01. The team featured McCutcheon, Kelera Mudunasoko, McCaig and Young.

While Fiji did not advance to any finals, the team demonstrated competitiveness on the Commonwealth stage, with several swimmers posting strong performances against elite international opposition.
