After 12 years of moving from one place to another, widow, Paulini Aremawa and her four children now have a safe and permanent home following the completion of a new house under the Government’s Rural Housing Assistance (RHA) Programme in Vuci South, Nausori.

Funded by the Government at a cost of more than $30,000, the new 24 x 16-foot home provides the family with long-term security, stability and improved living conditions after years of uncertainty following the passing of Aremawa’s husband.

Minister for Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management, Mosese Bulitavu commissioned the new home, highlighting the Government’s commitment to ensuring vulnerable families have access to safe and dignified housing through the Rural Housing Assistance Programme.

Aremawa says the house was the answer to years of prayers and would change her family’s future.

She says for the past 12 years, they have moved from place to place because they did not have a home of their own.

She adds as a mother, her greatest concern has always been what would happen to her children if something happened to her, but today, she has peace in her heart because she knows they will always have a place to call home.
