Four people, including two juveniles, were arrested during a snap checkpoint along the Hibiscus Highway in Naweni on Wednesday, August 12.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations Kasiano Vusonilawe said the arrests were made over the alleged unlawful possession of illicit drugs believed to be marijuana.
He said Northern Division operations teams are continuing to target both the cultivation and possession of illicit drugs.
ACP Vusonilawe added that the checkpoints also help police identify other alleged offences, including criminal intimidation and assault.
As part of its wider approach to addressing the illicit drug trade, the team is also carrying out community and school visits.
Investigations into the alleged drug possession cases are continuing.
