Six communities in Sabeto, Nadi, can now rely on improved facilities for shelter during natural disasters following the completion of an upgrade to the Sabeto Evacuation Centre.
The upgraded facility was officially commissioned by Minister for Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management Mosese Bulitavu under the Ministry’s Evacuation Centre Programme.
The project cost more than $30,000 and is expected to benefit residents of Koroyaca, Narokorokoyawa, Natalau, Naboutini and Lomolomo, along with nearby communities.
The centre will provide a safer location for families seeking shelter during cyclones, floods and other emergencies.
The upgrade is part of Government efforts to strengthen disaster preparedness and improve community resilience by ensuring suitable evacuation facilities are available before emergencies occur.
