The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions has filed a civil forfeiture application seeking to have assets belonging to Imran Khan and Deborah Kim forfeited to the State.

Earlier this year, the High Court granted the State’s application for a permanent restraining order over assets linked to Khan and Kim.

The application was filed at the Suva High Court Civil Registry today, under sections 71F, 71G, 71K and 71M of the Proceeds of Crime Act.

The Court declared the assets to be unexplained wealth and permanently restrained them after finding that the respondents had failed to provide evidence establishing that the properties had been acquired through lawful means.

The assets now subject to the civil forfeiture application include $404,840.34 held in a BRED Bank account, a three-bedroom concrete house and land at Lot 21 on DP 5225, Valelevu, held under Housing Authority Sub-Lease No. 204059.

Four motor vehicles are also listed include a BMW sedan bearing registration FH 945, a Toyota wagon registered KNGKHN, a Nissan sedan registered 913, and a Toyota sedan registered IV 991.

The ODPP is now seeking orders from the High Court for the restrained properties to be forfeited to the State.

Khan is currently serving a custodial sentence after he was convicted of possessing 4.1364 grams of methamphetamine by the Suva Magistrates Court.
