Fiji Airways has secured a new world record after bringing together 507 participants for the Largest Beach Choir at Natadola Beach.

The record-breaking performance took place on Saturday, October 17, at the InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort and Spa, with the achievement officially accredited by World Record Certification (WRCAC).

The event brought together Fiji Airways employees, local choirs, musicians, community members and players from the airline’s sponsored sporting teams, including the Fijian Drua and Fiji Rugby Union.

Participants joined voices to perform Pharrell Williams’ hit song Happy and This Is Me from the musical film The Greatest Showman.

Fiji Airways Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Paul Scurrah, says the achievement reflects Fiji’s strong sense of community, connection and togetherness.

Mr Scurrah says music provided an opportunity for people from different backgrounds to unite and showcase the country’s unique culture and spirit to the world.

He adds that the event was more than just a world record, but a celebration of what people can accomplish when they come together.

World Record Certification Officer James R. Nichols also commended the achievement, saying the gathering demonstrated how music can unite communities and celebrate Fiji’s rich musical culture.

The record will also feature in Finding Happiness, a documentary currently in development with Resonant Blue and presented by Fiji Airways.

The airline says the achievement highlights the people and communities behind its operations while reinforcing its commitment to sharing Fiji’s warmth, hospitality and happiness with the world.
