The Fiji Corrections Service (FCS) has completed its internal investigation and taken disciplinary action against two officers following an incident involving Fiji Police Force personnel in Suva.
The action follows the circulation of a video showing the two off-duty corrections officers allegedly under the influence of alcohol, verbally abusing and obstructing two police officers carrying out a night patrol outside a popular Suva nightclub.
The FCS says the behaviour displayed in the video is contrary to the standards of discipline, respect and public trust expected of personnel wearing the uniform.
The Service has also expressed regret over the incident, stressing the importance of maintaining mutual respect and cooperation between the two law enforcement agencies.
It says professional conduct training will continue to be compulsory for all serving personnel to strengthen discipline and prevent similar incidents in the future.
