France-based Fijian Setareki Bituniyata is set to make his Flying Fijians debut against France in Round Four of the Nations Championship this Sunday.
Grateful for the opportunity to finally represent his country, Bituniyata acknowledges the responsibility that comes with wearing the national jersey and is calling for prayers and support from fans and families as he prepares for the occasion.
Bituniyata is set to fulfil a career milestone when he makes his Flying Fijians debut this Sunday.
“I am very happy that I am now part of the national 15s squad for the November Nations Championship. We have begun preparations three days ago for our first game against France but there is one thing we need. We need all the prayers and support from our families, fans and supporters back in Fiji and abroad. We will need your prayers to help the boys in our preparations for this month’s games.”
Meanwhile, Flying Fijians wing Jiuta Wainiqolo says preparations have been progressing well, with the players putting in the hard work since Monday ahead of the weekend’s encounter.
“It’s been a good week. Started training from Monday, Tuesday, today and Wednesday. Boys are really excited about the game this weekend.”
Wainiqolo expects a tough and physical contest against France, particularly with the intensity and speed the European side brings to the game.
“I know it will be a tough game, a physical game with more intensity and speed. But we are really looking forward. We are preparing for that French player game and physicality from the French team. And we hope we will get the win this week and work hard as a team and prepare ourselves for the big game this weekend.”
The Flying Fijians are now focused on delivering a strong performance and securing their first victory in the Nations Championship, against France this Sunday.
