Fiji Water Flying Fijians head coach Jake White has named a strong squad for this weekend’s Test against France, with former England international Nathan Hughes set to make his long-awaited debut for Fiji.

The powerful number eight has been named in the starting lineup, bringing valuable international experience, physicality and ball-carrying strength to the Flying Fijians forward pack.

Hughes, who previously represented England at Test level, will earn his first cap in the white jersey as he begins a new chapter in his international rugby career.

White says Hughes has impressed since joining the squad and believes the back-rower has earned his opportunity to start at number eight.

The Flying Fijians coach is expecting a tough contest against France, describing the visitors as a quality side that will provide a stern challenge across the park.

Despite the challenge ahead, White remains confident in the squad selected, saying he has chosen the best available players to give Fiji the strongest chance of success this weekend.

With Hughes set to make his debut and a talented squad assembled, the Flying Fijians will be looking to rise to the occasion when they take on France in what promises to be a highly anticipated Test match.
