The Vanua Levu Arya Samaj Convention was inaugurated yesterday in Naduna, Labasa, by Biman Prasad, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, National Development, and Strategic Planning. The event was held after a break of more than ten years.
During the convention’s opening remarks, Biman Prasad, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, National Development, and Strategic Planning, praised the organization for its enormous commitment to nation-building via women’s empowerment and education.
According to Prasad, the organization established and is currently in charge of a number of educational institutions in the North, just like other religious organizations.
Prasad also said, “that is why we as a government want to make sure that the students and management of schools get that support.“
The purpose of this, according to the organization’s general secretary Vidya Sagar, is to fortify group cohesion and facilitate organizational planning.
