In Fiji:
Alitia Bainivalu has been been appointed as Minister for Fisheries & Forests. This comes after Kaliveti Ravu tendered his resignation.
Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka says by law, Ravu is entitled to the presumption of innocence and that the resignation in no way implies guilt or innocence and that is a matter for the courts to determine.
The Prime Minister respects the legal process and the independence of our Judiciary.
Mr Ravu will remain a backbencher as a Member of Parliament.
