Calls for a public holiday on Rotuma Day

After the celebrations of the “Rotuma Day” last week, the community has called for a national celebration, particularly a ‘Public Holiday’.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Professor Biman Prasad says, while they welcome the suggestion, it is up to government to make the final decision.

He says, there is a possibility, attributing Government’s stand on diversity.

He says Fiji is a multi-cultural country, and the government is committed to celebrating every ethnic historical event.
