Concerns have been raised with the relevant authorities regarding children being used as drug peddlers.
In a Press Conference, the Ministry of Children was asked if they have received any information about such incidents.
Line Minister Lynda Tabuya says, they rely mostly on Police for such reports, however confirms there have not been any cases referred to them.
“We have not received any officially complaints about a child being used as a drug peddler. We are really relying on Police and the information they provide us”, she said.
“The criminal responsibility of a child is 10 years old than they can be charged with a crime. So if they are under ten and being used, then that would be a child that is at risk. This is where we can come in and assist the child”, she added.
She says, it is sad that such activities are happening, and parents are urged to be extra proactive on their role, as children are vulnerable.
