European Union delegation visits Republic of Fiji Military force joint task force command

Today, the Delegation of the European Union to the Pacific embarked on a visit to the Republic of Fiji Military Force (RFMF) Headquarters Joint Task Force Command.

Led by Her Excellency Barbara Plinkert, Ambassador of the European Union to the Pacific, the delegation comprised esteemed representatives including the Ambassador of France, Ambassador of Germany, Charge d’ Affaires of Spain, and the Head of Political, Trade, and Information Section for the Delegation.

Upon arrival at Blackrock Camp, the delegation was greeted with a Quarter Guard ceremony, extending a warm welcome to H.E. Barbara Plinkert as the Head of Delegation.

Subsequently, the delegation received a comprehensive briefing on the roles and responsibilities of the Joint Task Force Command, as well as insights into ongoing deployments.

Engaging in constructive dialogue, the delegation held promising discussions with Brigadier General Manoa Gadai, Commander of the Joint Task Force Command, focusing on current capabilities and future prospects for fulfilling the crucial role of JTFC.

The exchange aimed at enhancing mutual understanding and cooperation between the European Union and the RFMF on a spectrum of security-related issues of shared interest.

The visit culminated with a tour of the JTFC Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) warehouse, showcasing its readiness to provide vital support during natural disasters not only in Fiji but also in neighboring regions.

This visit by the EU delegation to the RFMF Joint Task Force Command marks a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to fortify partnerships and promote peace and stability in the Pacific region.
