Energy Fiji Limited has announced the appointment of Fatiaki Gibson as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective from today.
EFL Board Chair, Rokoseru Nabalarua, made the announcement in a press conference this morning.
Gibson previously served as General Manager, Major Projects at EFL and brings extensive leadership experience and deep expertise in energy infrastructure, regulatory compliance, and renewable energy development.
Nabalarua said Gibson’s appointment comes at a pivotal time as EFL accelerates its transition toward 90% renewable energy by 2035, in alignment with Fiji’s long-term sustainability goals.
“This is the part of EFL Green Energy Transition particularly developing 165 MW of Solar Power Projects in the next four years”, said Nabalarua.
Gibson brings over 34 years of experience in the energy sector, specializing in infrastructure development, regulatory compliance, and renewable energy. His career spans 26 years at the Fiji Electricity Authority (FEA)—now EFL—where he held several key leadership roles.
Notably, he served as Project Manager for the Nadarivatu Hydroelectric Scheme, overseeing its successful commissioning in 2012 and ensuring the project consistently exceeded performance expectations.
As CEO, Gibson will focus on modernizing Fiji’s energy infrastructure, enhancing grid resilience, and driving investment in clean energy projects.
He will also work closely with key stakeholders, government agencies, and industry partners to ensure EFL continues to deliver reliable, sustainable, and affordable electricity to the people of Fiji.
The EFL Board of Directors extends its sincere appreciation to Hasmukh Patel for his exceptional leadership and dedicated service as CEO of EFL since 2008.
Under his leadership, EFL successfully navigated its corporatization in 2018 and transitioned into a publicly listed company.
