Senior officers from the Australian Federal Police (AFP) in Suva paid a courtesy call on Fiji’s Commissioner of Police, Rusiate Tudravu, today, reaffirming their commitment to regional security cooperation.

Led by Detective Superintendent Grant Liddy, the AFP delegation—Detective Inspector Jodie Hurley and Detective Inspector Paul Everingham—engaged in discussions on police-to-police collaboration and strategies to combat the growing threats of transnational crime in the Pacific.

Commissioner Tudravu emphasized that illicit drugs remain a top priority for the Fiji Police Force (FPF) and underscored the importance of working with the AFP and other regional law enforcement agencies to present a united front against transnational crime.

With the AFP backing the Police Reset initiative, both agencies highlighted the importance of resource sharing, intelligence cooperation, and capacity-building to protect the Pacific from security vulnerabilities.

Detective Superintendent Liddy reaffirmed the AFP’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with the Fiji Police, recognizing Fiji’s key role in regional law enforcement cooperation.

The Solesolevaki Memorandum of Understanding between the FPF and AFP has already resulted in increased training programs and joint operations, reinforcing security efforts not just between Fiji and Australia, but across the Pacific region.
