Fiji and Australia strengthen ties with landmark bilateral meeting and partnership agreements

Fiji and Australia held a bilateral meeting in Nadi  on Tuesday 30 April to reaffirm their commitment to strengthening their relationship through the Vuvale Partnership. 

Present at the meeting was Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister, Sitiveni Rabuka, Australian International Development and the Pacific Minister, Pat Conroy and a few other representatives from both countries

They discussed Australia’s investment in Fiji’s Colonial War Memorial Hospital’s infrastructure and signed a Memorandum of Understanding on port development and cyber security cooperation. 

Australia pledged a five-year AUD100 million programme to strengthen the aviation sector in the Pacific, increase scholarships for Fijian students and support Fiji’s nation-building priorities, including sports.
