Google is investing in the Pacific Connect initiative a series of submarine cables that aim to expand the reach, resilience and reliability of the internet for countries around the Pacific.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade, Manoa Kamikamica and the Secretary of the U.S Department of Commerce, Gina Raimondo witnessed the signing of the partnership between FNPF and Google on the expansion of the Pacific Connect Initiative.
In congratulating the two parties’ collaboration, Kamikamica stated that this is a shining example of what private-public partnership can deliver, which will support our Nation’s progress towards a well-connected digital economy.
Google was represented by Brian Quigley, Vice President, Global Network Solutions and FNPF was represented by Naibuka Saune, the Chief Investment Officer.
The two Parties have plans to collaborate on key areas, such as Pacific Connectivity, Green ICT Capabilities in Fiji, and fostering a Data-Driven Ecosystem.
In the signed Joint Statement, Google and FNPF, affirmed that they remain committed to working together to unlock the transformative potential of data and data-driven technologies.
