Leptospirosis claimed one life last year, according to statistics from the Raiwaqa Health Centre.
Acting Health Ministry permanent secretary Dr Jemesa Tudravu said the centre also registered 1200 non communicable disease cases, 86 leptospirosis cases, 313 dengue fever cases and six typhoid fever cases.
He said this at the inaugural Raiwaqa Medical Area Health Expo which began today and ends tomorrow.
Dr Tudravu said the centre catered to about 35,000 people from Laucala Bay, Raiwaqa and Raiwai medical zones which also included residents from Veiquwawa, Jittu and Wailea Settlements.
