Lynda Tabuya is no longer Deputy Party Leader of the People’s Alliance.
This, after a statement was released by the party at the completion of the Executive Council meeting yesterday in Suva.
In the statement, the party said the Executive Council thoroughly discussed and considered the recommendation of the People’s Management Committee in relation to the sex and drug scandal involving Ms Tabuya while on an official trip to the Parliament of Victoria in Melbourne last year, from 21 to 23 August.
“The People’s Executive Council particularly considered the severe and likely irreparable damage and disrepute that the scandal and the allegations surrounding it had brought to the Party’s image and reputation,” the party said.
“The Executive Council therefore resolved, in the best interest of the Party, that the Hon. Lynda Tabuya be removed as Deputy Party Leader effective immediately as at the time and date of its decision, yesterday the Monday, 4th March 2024.
“The Hon. Lynda Tabuya was informed immediately yesterday evening, 4th March 2024 via the appropriate official Party communication of the Executive Council’s resolution.”
