The Minister of Youth and Sports, Honorable Jese Saukuru, on behalf of the Prime Minister Hon. Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, the Coalition Government, and the people of Fiji, extended a warm welcome to the Fiji Deaf Team on their return to our shores after participating at the 2024 Australia Deaf Games.

Minister Saukuru commended the Fiji Rugby 7s Women’s Team for their outstanding achievement in securing the country’s first-ever gold medal. Their dedication, skill, and determination have brought immense pride to the nation.

The Coalition Government reaffirms its commitment to support and nurture the talents of all athletes, including the Fiji Deaf Team. We believe in providing equal opportunities for everyone, regardless of their abilities, and will continue to champion inclusivity in sports.

“As you return to your communities, I urge you to share your experiences and inspire others to pursue their dreams. Your triumphs have not only brought honor to Fiji but have also shown the world the indomitable spirit of our people. The Minister expresses his gratitude to the coaches, officials, and supporters who have played an integral role in the success of the Fiji Deaf Team. Their unwavering support and guidance have undoubtedly contributed to the team’s accomplishments.

“To all the gold medalists and every member of the team, I commend you for your outstanding performances. Your hard work and determination have brought glory to our nation. Your achievements serve as a shining example of what can be accomplished through perseverance and teamwork,“ Minister Saukuru said.
