The Raiwaqa community in Navua has welcomed the development of a new bakery, which is now supplying fresh baked bread to villagers around the Navua area.

The Riverside Bakery is only two months old, and has supplied bread to as far as Beqa Island.

Riverside bakery, a family owned business in the heart of Raiwaqa, Navua has been officially commissioned yesterday.

Baker Aminiasi Danford says the community no longer need to travel to Navua for bread.

He says, the bread are delivered for free to three neighbouring villages at 5 am every morning.

Rural and Maritime Development Minister Sakiasi Ditoka, while commissioning the new bakery says, the development has a long term impact on the community.

The development is part of the Government’s Self-Help Programme, which empowers rural and maritime Fijian dwellers and communities through the provision of income-generating opportunities.
