President, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, recently received a farewell visit from the outgoing High Commissioner of India to Fiji, Shri P.S. Karthigeyan.
During the meeting, Ratu Lalabalavu expressed appreciation for India’s ongoing support and contributions to the nation’s development.
He stressed the strong bilateral relationship between Fiji and India, which is rooted in mutual respect, shared history and a common vision for future progress.
The President acknowledged several key areas where India has played a vital role, including the solarization of the State House, a significant step in Fiji’s commitment to renewable energy and sustainability.
He also highlighted India’s contribution to healthcare with the establishment of a 100-bed Super Specialty Cardiology Hospital, which will greatly benefit Fiji and the broader Pacific region.
The President recognised India’s support during the COVID-19 pandemic and the provision of grants and scholarships that have enabled Fijian students to pursue higher education in India, helping to build Fiji’s human capital.
