His Excellency, the President, Ratu Wiliame Katonivere, received the i-Tatau from the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) women’s rugby team at the State House this morning (28/09/22).

While addressing the team, President Katonivere wished the team well in their journey to the first-ever women’s International Defence Rugby Championship in Auckland, New Zealand.

President Katonivere thanked the team and the players for their hard work and reminded them that discipline was the most vital aspect of a person’s lifestyle.

The President stated that living a disciplined life and adhering to good advice would take them far. He also reminded them to take pride but also be mindful of the jersey they were donning.

“You are the chosen warriors to wear that jersey amongst the many that tried out for the team. When you run onto the field, know that we are all behind you supporting you in your games. Enjoy your games and seize the moment because this moment will not come back,” he said.

The team is in pool B with Australia and United Kingdom. They will play against Australia on October 7 and face the United Kingdom on October 14.

The team will depart Fiji on October 3.
