Queensland Maroons coach Billy Slater has confirmed the Maroons’ line-up for Game II of the State of Origin series at the Melbourne Cricket Ground tonight.

Felise Kaufusi has played his way into the 17 after playing in Game I as 18th man, while Kurt Cape-well has also earned selection for the June 26 match against the New South Wales Blues.

The clash will mark Kaufusi’s 16th appearance for the Maroons, while it will be Capewell’s 10th Origin game and his first, since Game III of the 2022 series.

The pair add experience to the interchange bench, which has a new dynamic following the series opener that featured J’maine Hopgood and Selwyn Cobbo.

With Kaufusi elevated into the 17, the new 18th man is Dane Gagai, a proven performer at Origin level.

Meanwhile Michael Maguire is putting his faith in Mitchell Moses, Latrell Mitchell and Cameron Murray as part of five changes to his team in a bid to salvage the Blues’ State of Origin hopes for game two.

Nicho Hynes has lost the halfback jersey with Moses to replace him after the Cro-nulla star’s modest starting debut in the Origin I loss to Queensland at Accor Stadium last month.

Hynes is not the only Shark who is a victim of Maguire’s cutthroat selections with Cameron McInnes also dropped after he was ineffective when starting at lock in his first match at Origin level.

The Maroons and the Blues match will kick off at 10:05 tonight.

You can watch the match live on Fiji One.
