Deputy Prime Minister Manoa Kamikamica has officially launched The Prime Minister’s International Business Awards 2024. The award has a key focus  on business innovation and sustainability.

He stressed the importance of government-private sector partnerships and collaboration in creating a supportive business environment.

“The ongoing support and collaboration that the Awards have from both the Government and the private sector is a testament to the strong unity of Fiji’s business community. Businesses in Fiji have shown remarkable resilience and innovation, adapting to an ever-changing global landscape while prioritizing sustainability. Through the PMIBA, we aim to celebrate these successes and encourage further growth,” said Mr Kamikamica.

This year’s awards, organised by Investment Fiji, will highlight achievements in various sectors, including four new categories.

The four new categories are Excellence in Employer Award, Excellence in Fisheries Award, Excellence in Forestry Award and Excellence in Yasana (Provincial) Aspiration Award.

The other awards include the Supreme Award, General Awards, and Special Awards in categories like Agribusiness Innovation and Best Sustainability Initiative.

Investment Fiji’s Chief Executive Officer, Kamal Chetty, noted that the new categories will broaden the recognition of diverse business contributions and emphasised the awards’ commitment to transparency.

“As the organizers of the PMIBA for over three decades, we are proud to continue this tradition of celebrating business excellence. This year’s theme of ‘Business Innovation and Sustainability’ reflects our commitment to recognizing businesses that are not only achieving success but are also leading the way in sustainable practices,” said Mr Chetty.

The event is supported by numerous sponsors, and applications are now open, with the awards ceremony scheduled for later in the year.
