The race for the Extra Fiji Secondary Schools Football Championship Under-19 title intensifies today in Labasa, with several unbeaten teams set to face their toughest tests yet as the competition enters the quarter-final stage.
The knockout rounds of the 2026 Extra Fiji Secondary Schools Football Championship promise plenty of excitement, with four quarter-final encounters expected to showcase some of the country’s best emerging football talent.
One of the headline matches will see unbeaten Penang Sangam College take on fellow undefeated side Guru Nanak Khalsa College at Subrail Park at 3.30pm.
Both teams have impressed throughout the pool stages and will put their perfect records on the line in what shapes as one of the most anticipated clashes of the tournament.
At the same time, Tavua College will face Vashist Muni College at the Labasa Sangam Ground in a repeat of their earlier pool-stage meeting.
Tavua edged Vashist Muni 2-1 in that encounter and will be hoping for a similar result to secure a place in the semi-finals. However, Vashist Muni now has an opportunity to overturn that defeat in a high-stakes knockout contest.
Another blockbuster fixture is set for 5pm at Subrail Park, where unbeaten Ba Sangam College meets Stratum/Smart Security Vunimono High School.
Vunimono advanced as one of the best-performing runners-up and will look to continue its impressive run against a Ba Sangam side that has been among the standout teams of the championship.
The final quarter-final will provide plenty of local interest, with Labasa College and Labasa Muslim College facing off in an all-Labasa derby at Subrail Park at 6.30pm.
With only four semi-final spots available, the margin for error has disappeared as teams battle to keep their national title hopes alive and move one step closer to championship glory.
