Funded by the European Union and aimed at supporting the agri-food system transformation through innovation by improving domestic agricultural production, the two day event will have 11 local agricultural business owners showcase their businesses, products and accentuating their natural talents.

UNFAO’s National Project Coordinator, Mosheen Khan says this initiative aims to promote local agriculture businesses in the Pacific

“This is a new initiative funded by the European Union aimed at improving domestic agricultural production consumption through a resilient and sustainable agri-food system transformation.”

Among the 11 participants, Mesovu or Goat Milk Soap Pte Limited Business Owner, Beatrice Nast states she is pleased to present something new for the agriculture sector as her product is the first of its kind.

“I think my product is very innovative because it didn’t exist before and basically the vision for this business is to create a whole new sector in the agriculture industry.”

27 year-old Director for Shahil’s Party Ice and Frozen Supplies, Avishay Singh encourages other Fijian youths to make use of the land that has been made available to them, as this is what sparked his achievement.

Singh won the NSME Award in 2022.

“My message to all the young people in Fiji is if you have the potential to do something, use it because for us in Fiji we have a lot of land that can be used wisely.”

In order to compete for a spot as an Agri-Business incubator, which will take place in Nadi on November 6th, participants will pitch their products and company concepts at the event, which will end tomorrow.
