In a move to make healthcare more affordable and accessible, Pacific Specialist Healthcare (PSH) Hospitals has announced a significant reduction in general practitioner (GP) consultation fees. Effective immediately, the fee has been lowered from $11.50 to $7.50 for all Fijians.

PSH Hospitals, a 130-bed private specialty hospital with facilities in Nadi (opposite Nadi International Airport) and Walu Bay, Suva, aims to reduce out-of-pocket healthcare expenses and address concerns about accessibility.

According to PSH Hospitals Founder and CEO, Parvish Kumar, the decision comes after extensive discussions with the hospital’s newly appointed board members, which include representatives from the Great Council of Chiefs (GCC) and faith-based organisations.

“We have been engaging with community leaders and grassroots organisations and received feedback that cost remains a barrier for many Fijians seeking medical care. This reduction in GP consultation fees is part of our commitment to making healthcare more accessible,” said Kumar.

Breaking Barriers in Private Healthcare
Kumar also addressed a common misconception that PSH Hospitals primarily serves wealthier clientele, emphasizing that the hospital is open to all Fijians, regardless of financial background.

Despite its reputation for cutting-edge medical procedures, including open-heart surgeries and brain tumour operations, the hospital remains committed to primary healthcare services through its highly trained general practitioners.

Flexible Payment Options for Patients in Need
For patients requiring specialist care and advanced treatments, PSH Hospitals has introduced a “Get Well Now, Pay Later” initiative to assist those facing financial challenges.

“Our first priority is saving lives. We want to ensure that no one is denied medical care due to financial constraints,” Kumar added.

The PSH Hospitals facility in Nadi operates 24/7, providing outpatient, inpatient, and emergency services to cater to the growing demand for quality healthcare.
