Energy Fiji Limited (EFL) has announced that it will carry out essential maintenance on the 132kV transmission line running from the Wailoa Power Station to the Cunningham Road Switchyard on Sunday, 3 August 2025.

The works, which involve replacing corroded hardware on transmission towers, will require a full de-energisation of the line from 4:00am to 5:00pm. To maintain power supply to the Central Division during this period, EFL will rely on its thermal generators at Deuba, Rokobili, Kinoya, New Kinoya, and Korovou power stations.

These generators will provide electricity from Matanipusi Hill through to Suva and up to Navesau Village. EFL expressed gratitude to commercial and industrial customers who have volunteered to operate their own diesel generators in support of grid stability during the maintenance window.

EFL assures customers that every effort will be made to prevent supply disruptions. However, interruptions may occur in the event of:

a) A failure at any thermal generator in the Central Division, or

b) An unrelated fault in the network during the scheduled outage.

The timing of the maintenance – on a Sunday; was chosen to align with lower electricity demand and reduce potential impact on customers.

In the event of adverse weather, the maintenance will be postponed, and the public will be notified.

Safety Reminder:
EFL strongly advises the public to treat all power lines as live at all times. Unexpected energisation may occur due to operational changes. Keep a safe distance from power lines and towers.
