Rev Dr Semisi Turagavou re-elected as Methodist Church President

The Methodist Church of Fiji has re-elected its President, Rev Dr Semisi Turagavou, for another term that will run until 2027.

The reappointment was confirmed during the Church’s annual meeting held yesterday.

Alongside Rev Dr Turagavou, General Secretary Rev Dr Jolame Lasawa has also been re-elected, continuing his role in the Church’s leadership.

Speaking to the media after the meeting yesterday, Rev Dr Lasawa confirmed that the appointment of the Deputy General Secretary will be announced later this week.

He emphasized the importance of strong leadership to guide the Church through its ongoing mission and work across the nation.

Meanwhile, the current Chaplain for the Republic of Fiji Military Forces, Viliame Tunidau is appointed to be the Secretary of the Methodist Young People (MYF) Department, overlooking the Department of Sunday School, Junior MYF and the MYF.

His appointment will be effective from the 1st of January,  2026.

As the largest Christian denomination in Fiji, the Methodist Church plays a significant role in shaping the country’s spiritual and social landscape.

During the meeting, Church leaders also discussed enhancing collaboration with key stakeholders to safeguard the welfare of its members.

“The Church remains committed to working with our communities and partners to ensure that the needs of our people are met,” said Rev Dr Lasawa.
