The Ministry of Health & Medical Services has officially launched a two-year National Dengue and Other Vector-Borne Disease Control Programme in partnership with the GX Foundation following the signing of a virtual Memorandum of Understanding yesterday.
The agreement was signed at the Ministry’s headquarters by Acting Permanent Secretary Luisa Cikamatana and GX Foundation Senior Advisor Lau Chi-tong, with Wang Yuan witnessing the ceremony.
The partnership will focus on strengthening surveillance of vector-borne diseases, improving public awareness, supporting medical supply donations, and building professional healthcare capacity.
Dr. Cikamatana said the programme is expected to help lower dengue cases and reduce the impact of other vector-borne illnesses, easing pressure on health facilities and reducing hospital admissions while protecting communities and the economy.
She added that the collaboration reflects meaningful international cooperation and will support Fiji’s broader public health priorities for the benefit of all Fijians.
