Residents in Tavua and Rakiraki will now have improved access to medical imaging services following the installation of new floor-mounted digital x-ray machines at local hospitals.
The Ministry of Health & Medical Services confirmed that the new equipment has been successfully installed at Tavua Hospital and Rakiraki Hospital, with support from the ministry’s local biomedical team.
Medical Imaging Technicians from both hospitals are expected to undergo specialised training next week on the operation and maintenance of the machines.
Health officials say the upgraded equipment will allow patients in the western and northern parts of Viti Levu to access critical x-ray services closer to home, reducing the need for travel to Lautoka or Suva for diagnostic imaging.
