Twenty-nine soldiers from the 3FIR Rapid Response Infantry Company Group graduated from Red Belt to Black Belt in Hapkido during a ceremony held on Friday, 22 May 2026.

The graduation ceremony was officiated by Battalion Second-in-Command Major Vakaenei, who commended instructors for their commitment to strengthening the soldiers’ discipline, confidence, character and combat skills throughout the training.

He also congratulated the graduates for their dedication and reminded them that the achievement represented more than martial arts advancement, highlighting the importance of discipline and sound decision-making in their duties.

Major Vakaenei told the soldiers that earning a black belt comes with greater responsibility and higher expectations in leadership, conduct and performance, urging them to lead by example at all times.

The newly acquired skills are expected to further strengthen the operational readiness of 3FIR and the Rapid Response Infantry Company Group in supporting civil power assistance and wider security operations.
