All schools across Fiji will return to normal operations on Thursday, 18 June 2026, following improvements in weather conditions.

Education Minister Aseri Radrodro confirmed the decision after consultations with the National Disaster Risk Management Office, the Fiji Meteorological Service and other relevant agencies.

Authorities have advised that weather conditions have stabilised, while schools have reported that their facilities are safe, accessible and ready to resume teaching and learning activities.

Students and teachers are expected to return to classrooms as scheduled.

Despite the nationwide reopening, parents and guardians are being urged to assess local conditions before sending children to school, particularly in areas where flooding, damaged roads, unsafe river crossings or transportation difficulties may still pose risks.

School heads have also been encouraged to closely monitor conditions within their communities and remain in contact with School Management Committees and District Education Offices should any concerns arise.

The Ministry of Education says it will continue working with weather and disaster management authorities and will issue further updates if circumstances change.

Mr Radrodro also thanked school leaders, teachers, parents, communities and partner organisations for their cooperation and support during the disruption, reaffirming that the safety and wellbeing of students and educators remain the Ministry’s top priority.
