Three football players have been suspended after testing positive for marijuana during screenings conducted at the BiC Fiji FACT in Labasa.

A total of 48 players were tested over the two-day tournament as part of Fiji FA’s efforts to maintain clean sport and uphold competition integrity.

Fiji FA Chief Executive Officer Mohammed Yusuf said the association has a zero-tolerance approach to prohibited substances, adding that the suspended players will remain barred from all football activities pending a hearing before the Fiji FA Disciplinary Committee.

The Medical Commission also reported that two players tested positive for alcohol. As a result, all eight participating teams have been directed to submit declarations on any prescribed medication being taken by players.

Yusuf reiterated that maintaining the integrity of the game and player welfare remains a top priority for Fiji FA.
