Fiji has been re-elected Chair of the Regional Steering Group for Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) in Asia and the Pacific for the 2026–2030 term.
The decision was endorsed during the Regional Steering Group meeting in Bangkok, Thailand, from June 16 to 18.
Fiji has chaired the group since 2015 and will continue leading regional efforts to strengthen civil registration systems.
Permanent Secretary for Justice Selina Kuruleca said significant progress has been made across the region in improving registration services, digitalisation and accessibility, while challenges remain in reaching vulnerable communities and strengthening data protection.
Fiji’s re-election reflects the confidence of regional members in the country’s leadership as it continues working with partners to advance inclusive and resilient CRVS systems across the Asia-Pacific region.
