The Swire Shipping Fijian Drua has confirmed the signing of experienced Flying Fijian Ben Volavola to its main squad, strengthening the club’s flyhalf stocks ahead of the 2027 Super Rugby Pacific season

Volavola returns home as one of Fiji’s most experienced professional rugby players. The 48-capped international has enjoyed a distinguished career, making 74 professional appearances across Super Rugby Pacific and European competitions.

He has represented several top clubs, including the NSW Waratahs, Crusaders, Melbourne Rebels, and Queensland Reds in Super Rugby, while also playing in France for Racing 92 and in England for Leicester Tigers.

The veteran playmaker brings leadership, game management, and professionalism to the Drua setup, qualities expected to further support the club’s growing squad.

At international level, Volavola featured for the Flying Fijians at the 2015 and 2019 Rugby World Cups, scoring 296 Test points. He currently ranks third on Fiji’s all-time points-scoring list and is widely regarded as one of the nation’s most accomplished fly-halves..

Speaking about his return, Volavola said he is excited to be back home and reunite with the local rugby community.

“I’m really excited to come back home with my family and join everyone at the club. I look forward to helping build a culture that brings even more success to the Drua,” he said.

“I’m also excited to see all the fans, to play at home and connect with them during the season.”

Fijian Drua General Manager Rugby Baden Stephenson welcomed the signing, highlighting the impact Volavola is expected to have on the team.

“We are delighted to welcome Ben back home to Fiji and into the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua family. He brings a wealth of experience from playing at the highest levels of the game, including Super Rugby Pacific, international rugby, and two Rugby World Cups,” Stephenson said.

“His leadership and professionalism will be invaluable to our young squad both on and off the field. We believe his experience and mentorship will play an important role in helping us develop the next generation of Drua and Flying Fijians players.”

The Drua continues to strengthen key areas of its squad as preparations build for the 2027 Super Rugby Pacific campaign.
