The latest psychiatric assessment of 43-year-old Samuela Dasalusalu, accused of murdering 16-year-old Salote Sikiti in Naqali Village, indicated that he remains unfit to stand trial or enter a plea.
Dasalusalu appeared before High Court Judge, Justice Pita Bulamainaivalu this morning.
Senior State lawyer Eoghn Samisoni informed the court that the findings, contained in a psychiatric report dated the 18th of June, concluded that the accused is still not competent to participate in court proceedings.
Samisoni asked the court for additional time for the State to review the report and determine its next course of action.
Dasalusalu is alleged to have attacked the teenager with a cane knife, causing severe injuries that later proved fatal.
He has been further remanded in custody.
The matter has been adjourned to the 9th of next month.
