France edged Paraguay 1-0, England survived a thrilling encounter to beat Mexico 3-2, Spain eliminated Portugal 1-0, Belgium comfortably defeated the United States 4-1, and Switzerland advanced after defeating Colombia 4-3 on penalties following a scoreless draw.
