The Tailevu Kaji Rugby Finals will be held this weekend at Nakelo District School, with excitement building as young rugby players prepare to battle for top honours.
Adding to the anticipation is the introduction of T1 Rugby, a new version of tag rugby that was rolled out this year for the Under-9 and Under-10 age grades.
Tailevu Primary School Rugby Association Executive Member Joseva Duikoro has welcomed the new format, saying it provides a safer and enjoyable way for young children to develop their rugby skills while embracing the values of teamwork and sportsmanship.
Duikoro said the introduction of T1 Rugby has been well received and is helping build confidence among the younger players as they begin their rugby journey.
With schools from across Tailevu set to participate in the finals, Duikoro is inviting parents, families and supporters to turn up in numbers to support the children and create a vibrant atmosphere throughout the weekend.
He said community support plays a crucial role in encouraging the young athletes and making the event a memorable experience for everyone involved.
The Tailevu Kaji Rugby Finals are expected to showcase the district’s emerging rugby talent, while also highlighting the successful introduction of T1 Rugby at the grassroots level.
